Introduction: S-bioallethrin is a pyrethroid insecticide with a broad spectrum of activity, acting by contact and characterized by a strong knock-down effect, it is active on most flying and crawling insects, in particular mosquitoes, flies, wasps, horners, cockroaches, fleas, bugs, ants, etc. S-bioallethrin is widely used in the manufacture of insecticide mats, mosquito coils and liquid emanators, S-bioallethrin can be used alone or combined with another insecticide, such as Bioresmethrin, Permethrin or Deltamethrin and with or without a s ynergist(Piperonyl butoxide)in solutions.

MAMMALIAN TOXICOLOGY
Acute toxicity: 1) Acute oral LD50 for male rats is 574.5 mg/kg, for female rats is 412.9 mg/kg. 2) Acute dermal LD50 for rabbits is >2000 mg/kg. 3) Acute inhalation toxicity LC50 (4 h) for rats is 1.26 mg/L. 4) Skin irritation: Non-irritating to skin (rabbits). 5) Eye irritation: Slightly irritating to eyes (rabbits). 6) Skin sensitization for guinea pig: Non-sensitizer.
NOEL: (90 d) for rats is 19.6 mg/kg/day, (90 d) for dogs is 42.2 mg/kg/day. Other Not genotoxic. Not neurotoxic.

ECOTOXICOLOGY
Effect on birds: Acute feeding LD50 (8 d) for Bobwhite quail is >5000 ppm. Effect on fish: Acute LC50 (96 h) for Rainbow trout is 0.0105 mg/l. Effects on aquatic invertebrates: Acute EC50 (48 h) for Daphnia magna is 0.016 mg/l. Effects on algae: Acute 72 hour EC50 for Selenastrum capricornutum is 12.5 mg/l.
ENVIRONMENTAL FATE
Like many other pyrethroids, S-bioallethrin has low solubility in water, more or less stable under mildly acidic-neutral conditions but rather rapidly hydrolyzed at pH 9. It is prone to photolysis, with a half-life of 19 h in water exposed to natural sunlight during November-February at 37oN.
